On Tuesday, 23 June 2015, a delegation of pilgrims from Pistoia, an Italian town, gathered in the new wooded area installed this winter upstream from the Grotto of the Apparitions in the context of The project of the Grotto the heart of Lourdes. The purpose of this meeting: the blessing of the trees that have been generously donated to the Sanctuary by the Company of Giorgio Tesi, Pistoia. The Bishop of Pistoia, Mgr Fausto Tardelli, presided over the Celebration and the Blessing, in the presence of the Diocesan Financial Controller, who is also in charge of the Sanctuary, Thierry Castillo, and the chaplains of Lourdes, first and foremost those from Italy. The Bishop of Pistoia then unveiled the commemorative plaque on which one can read, in Italian: "Trees donated by the Giorgio Tesi Foundation, in collaboration with the Friends of Lourdes of the Diocese of Pistoia, in memory of Luciano Bani and Giorgio Tesi". In his encyclical Laudato si', Pope Francis, in the chapter concerning educational recommendations for the alliance between mankind and the environment, encourages various activities, among which are the planting of trees.
